January 30th and February 6th, 2018 Meet ups! Cross Country Skiing and Yoga at Sovereign!

Hello everyone!

We had so much fun at our two Tuesday evening meet ups this winter!

We were lucky enough to snag two of Sovereign's ladies nights and both groups were such a treat!

So much thanks to Sue, our yoga instructor who also joined us on our evening ski lessons. She was such an incredible teacher and I had an amazing time chatting with her. Her yoga sessions were calming but filled with giggles and she was so willing to help the girls on their skis and offer extra tips.

Our instructor Jill was also absolutely fantastic. She was laughing with us and helping us with all of the basics to make sure we all felt comfortable on the trails and that we were all having a great time throughout our lessons.

Thank you to the staff at Sovereign as well for handling our big groups with ease and with a great sense of humor too.

We had so much fun hosting our first ever 3 meet ups up there and we will without a doubt, be back next season!

As for all of the ladies, again constantly blowing my mind with their positive attitudes and willingness to just TRY ANYTHING! I, myself, am a super beginner at xc skiing so to have such fun, supportive ladies cheering eachother on and laughing with eachother is a wonderful feeling.

Thank you again to all of our evening meet up attendees. It was an absolute blast, even through the ice wind when I forgot my toque.... hahaha.

Here's some photos to recap our recent winter events!

January 13th, 2018 Meet up! Snowshoeing to the Black Prince Cabin at Sovereign!

DCS_1110.jpg

Hi everyone!

We had our first meet up mid January and I've been so caught up and busy with real life I've only just now had the time to reflect and share on the blog about our experience!!

We had a great day up on the mountain, the conditions were fantastic. It wasn't quite a bluebird day but the light was shining through the overcast, we had just been graced with a nice fresh snowfall and it made for a pretty unreal winter wonderland.

We all set off just shortly after noon and went on much more of a trek than Victoria and I had initially planned! These ladies were so so so eager to keep pushing on and when we saw the trail sign pointing us in the direction of the cabin we all agreed we should continue on. We made it to the cabin for some chatting and enjoyed some well deserved hot cocoa and drinks in the warmth.

I was so proud of these ladies. We had one woman who had never snowshoed and she was so incredibly enthusiastic and completed this over 5km trek on her FIRST time out there! I was blown away with how positive and interesting each one of these women were and it was a perfect example of what we strive for at Women of the Wilderness.

Here's some photos from our FIRST EVER meet up!! We can't thank all of our attendees enough for joining us and being such great company.

To many, many, more adventures throughout 2018. <3

New Years Giveaway!

Uhhhh is it already December 29th?!

Well, in THAT case 2018 is approaching SO quickly and I thought I would do a small giveaway of some of my prints and my 2018 calendar!

2017-12-27 01.12.43 1.jpg

This giveaway features some of my own photography so I thought it would have a nice personal touch. Here's a bit more about what I'm giving away!

2018 Calendar

2017-12-27 02.24.13 1.jpg

This is my first calendar! In the past year I've really developed a love of photography through adventuring and having my son. Capturing moments is easily one of my favorite things to do so I thought I might as well share some of my favorite photos from this year in a creative way!

All photos in the calendar were taken by me in BC or Alberta sometime throughout 2017.

I made sure to have the calendar locally printed at Wayside. They did an incredible job and knowing my work was printed right here in town always ensures I get the quality I strive for!

You can purchase my calendar

The Prints

The prints were also both taken this year, one on the trail to BX Falls in Vernon and the other at Cascade Falls near Mabel Lake in Lumby.

I'm happy to share what I love so much with all of you and I'm so excited to see what 2018 brings to Women of the Wilderness.

A Quick Hello!

DCS_0307.jpg

Hey guys!

Tia here!

I just wanted to introduce our blog and talk a little about what type of content you'll be seeing on here!

We offer a variety of outdoor events which we will always provide a blog for afterwards so you have a place to find photos and a recap of our event.

We will also be posting information on our events here (as well as other places) but you can always refer to our blog if you're curious about future activities.

We will have articles about our own trips and plenty of motivation to get you outside. I'm sure this blog will turn into quite the collective of information as we gain more members and really start connecting with one another.

2018 is going to be an amazing year and we hope you'll spend some time sharing it with us.
