This year I was determined to get outside as much as possible and see the sunset. There are so many places near or in Vernon that are perfect for spending the sunset and for this one we chose Middleton Mountain.
Before this year I had neeeever been up there! When I say "mountain" I really mean hill. In the Okanagan we don't have high mountains but we certainly have a lot of laaaarge hills hahahah. Middleton is one of them. There are multiple ways to get to the trails but of course, we choose the hardest....
Now again, we really have IMPROVED in our hiking skills because this smallll little switchbacked area was painful the first time we did it and now I'm fairly certain I could run the length without much issue. I did alot of trail running up here this Summer too and hope to do more throughout the fall and maybe even in the Winter! I'll make a more detailed blog post about dabbling with trail running this year and where I hope to go with it over time!
I remember when we got to the top of the steps and I looked over at Kal Lake from this viewpoint and literally gasped outloud! I had neeeever seen Kal from that angle and it was seriously breathtaking. It looked sooo large from up there!
We really got to enjoy the golden hour views and we definitely felt the shift from winter to spring which would mark the start of an incredible year of adventures. I can't wait to share them all with you.
